A friend taught me how to use spray paint and water on canvas to make these cool designs. So easy and so fun! Just find fun colors, spray the water, dip the canvas and let them dry. Water will pill up on them, but it goes away when they dry. You can layer the paint to make certain colors stand out. I used a paint pen on one to draw butterflies, it turned out pretty neat. Enjoy!

The Center Pointe Quilt
Everybody needs to have that one person in their life that cheers them on and makes them feel like a million bucks. I am blessed to have many people like that in my life, but none more than my friend Ashley. When all I see are a series of straight lines sewn together, she sees a masterpiece and tells all her friends about it. She was the first person to trust me to take a rotary cutter to her prized sorority shirts and knew before I did that I could make them into something she would cherish forever. Then she convinced her dad to to the same with his marathon shirts! And NOW!!! Now I got to do something truely amazing! There is no greater compliment than a friend asking you to make something they can give as a gift. What a great gift I get to make for her! She asked me to make a T-Shirt quilt to honor her pastor! How great is that?!?!?! I am just so thrilled to be a part of something so amazing! Thanks Ashley for always believing in me!!! And a BIG HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to Center Pointe Church!!!

Friendly Swap
I met a lady at the park with two young boys (and now a girl on the way) a while ago who recently had a yard sale to pass on some blue clothes to make room for some pink. I was running low on clothes for David and she was more than happy to give me a bag for two shirts for her boys. How awesome is that??? I made my all-time favorite rocket for her young one, but for the other a robot was requested. I love a little bartering!!! The clothes she gave me were adorable!

Taking a Stab at Room Decor
Sophia now has her own room, but I didn't have anything to put on the walls. She has never had her own room so I didn't have anything to decorate it. I have been thinking about it for a while what to do and decided to do cut-outs much like I did in David's room. Thanks to a good friend who let me raid her scrapbooking paper stash, another friend for letting me use her acrylic paint, and ANOTHER friend for giving me direction (and glue directions) I finally have wall art!!! Yay!
Sophia actually painted the background for this one and those are her hand prints. I just cut them out once they dried. I was trying to make them look like shadow puppet birds. Eh. At least we know what they are. That is the thing about art. It can be whatever you want it to be!
I got these butterflies for only $1. They were raw wood, but I love how it made an art hanger for Sophia's art! It was so easy to make and really makes the room HERS!
These are the ones I did for David's room.

With a Little Help From My Friend
How great would it be to not only have a hobby that you love, but to be able to share it with your kids??? I have that! Sophia helps me from everything to pinning, sorting squares, picking out colors, and also keeps me company while I'm on my machine. I think it is so important to teach our kids to find what they love to do and give it their all!! What better way than by including them in your own passions????
Here we are deciding what order to put the squares in. She did great!
She is so content just sitting here watching me create something out of nothing.
She is a big help sewing. She turns the knob for me.
I love this and I know we are making memories that will last a lifetime!

Nursery Rhymes
I love nursery rhymes. A friend of a friend is making a really cool quilt out of patches from all over the world and I kind of invited myself to be a part of it. I decided that I wanted to do one from stories I heard over and over as a kid. After many failed attempts this is the one I liked the best!

The Peachtree Quilt
I was honored to be asked to make another T-Shirt Quilt for a marathon runner (and father to the person I made the other t-shirt quilt for) from GA. I had so much fun making this and to be honest, it was my saving grace in the middle of many two-year-old-tantrums to be able to just cut and sew while letting dad handle it!
It was requested to try to make a bag to keep it in and I thought, "What a great idea!" I like how it turned out, but I am not sure how the holes for the shoe lace will hold up since the shirts were a bit worn. :)

So Many Ideas. So Little Time.
Summer is on its way and I know we are going to spend less and less time inside. Although I am glad for the time away from cleaning and TV, I will miss creating. Here are a few of the ideas that have been floating inside my head for a while and finally made into felt. Hope you like them. I know the house is kind of weird, but "home is where the heart is."
This is David modeling one of his shirts in his sleep. Love it!
